Getting Started
1. What is Meelay?
Meelay is a free matrimonial app for India that helps you find a life partner based on your community, preferences, and values. Built by Xfstech Solutions LLP.
2. Is Meelay really free?
Yes. Browsing, profile creation, verification, and messaging verified users are all 100% free. You'll see ads, and Meelay Diamonds and Coins are optional — that's how we keep the app sustainable.
3. Who can use Meelay?
Anyone 21 years or older, residing in India or an NRI (but the app is locked for Indians), who is genuinely looking for a marriage partner. Meelay is not for casual dating or hookups, only for serious connections.
4. How do I create my profile?
Tap 'Sign in with Google,' confirm you're 21+, fill in basic details, add photos, and upload your Voter ID or Driver's License for verification.
5. Is Meelay available on iPhone?
Not yet. Meelay is currently available on Android via Google Play. iOS support is on our roadmap.
Verification
6. Why do I need to verify my profile?
Verification confirms you're a real person of legal age. It protects every user from fake profiles and scams. Only verified users can send Connection Requests.
7. What documents are accepted?
Voter ID or Driver's License issued by the Government of India. Video verification is also available as an extra trust layer.
8. How long does verification take?
Usually 24-48 hours during business days. You'll get a notification when it's complete.
9. Is my ID safe with Meelay?
Yes. Your ID is encrypted, accessible only to our verification team, and deleted after the retention period (typically 90-180 days). It's never shared with other users or sold.
Connections & Coins
11. What are Meelay Gold Coins?
Gold Coins are the in-app currency you spend to send Connection Requests. They keep every request intentional, not spam.
14. What are Meelay Diamonds?
Diamonds are an optional virtual currency you can buy through Google Play. They convert to Gold Coins, and the Diamonds can unlock special features. Completely optional — you can use Meelay free.
16. What happens to my coins if I delete my account?
Any unused Diamonds and Gold Coins are forfeited and cannot be recovered. Use them before deleting, or pause your profile instead. NOTE- Diamonds can be sent/transferred to another user of their choice.
Privacy & Safety
17. Who can see my photos?
Your photos are hidden by default in the early stages of a conversation. Full photo access only opens after both users accept a Connection.
18. Who can see my phone number?
No one. Meelay never shares your phone number, email, or exact location with other users. Only the city you choose to display is visible.
Account
24. How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete My Account. Your profile is removed immediately, and your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
26. Why was my account suspended?
Common reasons: Terms violation, repeated reports from users, false profile information, or scam activity. To appeal, contact grievance@meelay.app within 30 days.
