Delete Your Meelay Account

Introduction

You are in control of your data. You can permanently delete your Meelay account and personal data at any time — directly in the app, or by request below. You do not need to give a reason.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)

1. Open the Meelay app and sign in.
2. Go to Account → Settings → Delete My Account.
3. Confirm when prompted.

Your profile is removed from public visibility immediately, and your personal data is erased within 30 days, subject to the limited exceptions below.

Option 2 — Request deletion here

If you cannot access the app, email us from the address registered with your account:

delete@meelay.app — subject line: “Delete my Meelay account”

Because meelay accounts are protected by verification, we confirm that a deletion request is genuinely yours before we act on it. This protects you from someone else deleting your account. We use the lightest check that fits the request:

• Email from your registered address. Send the request from the Google account email registered to your meelay profile. For most requests, this is all we need.
• Account details. If we cannot confirm the request from the email alone, we may ask you to confirm a few details about your account so we can be sure the request is genuinely yours.
• Live check (only if needed). For higher-risk cases — for example, if you have lost access to your registered email, or the request looks suspicious — we may ask for a short live verification (liveness check) to confirm you are the account holder. We do not reuse or rely on your original verification documents for this.

We erase verified requests within 30 days.

What gets deleted

• Your profile, photos, and entered details (community, education, city, preferences).
• Your messages and Connection Requests.
• Your verification record and any verification documents still held.
• Your sign-in record and account identifiers.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You would need to register again as a new user.

What we may keep, and for how long

As permitted by Google Play and required by Indian law, a limited set of records is retained after deletion for security, fraud-prevention, accounting, tax, and legal-compliance reasons. These are not used to provide the Service to you:

After the applicable period, this data is permanently deleted or anonymised.

Deleting is not the same as pausing

If you only want a break, go to Account → Settings → Privacy to hide or pause your profile and reactivate later. Pausing keeps your data; deletion removes it.

Purchases and virtual currency

Deleting your account forfeits any unused Meelay Diamonds and Gold Coins, except where prohibited by law. Diamond purchases are final and non-refundable; any refund permitted by Google Play policy must be requested through Google Play. Deleting your Meelay account does not affect your separate Google account or Google Play purchase history.
